IBFAN group in Bulgaria was created in 1995 on the basic of NM \\\"Women and Mothers against Violence\\\".

We are am NGO and our main aims are protection, promotion and support of breastfeeding. We work for implementation throug the legislation of the International Code for marketing of breastfeeding substitudes, subsequent Resolutions of EU and Codex Alimentarius Standards. Our activities are:

-National and international seminars;

-Workshops, working meetings;

-Press conferences.

We have more then 2500 volunteers in all over the country.

Our members are: health workers, nutritionists, journalists, psychlogists,scientific workers, teachers, students and mothers, organised in mother to mother support groups.

-Our main aim is to lobby on the National level for policy for protection and support of breastfeeding.

-From 1999 we joined to the international Nestle Boycott.

-From January 2001 we lounched the Monitoring Project for violationce of the companies-producers of infant and follow up formula against the recomandations of the International Code for Marketing of Breastmilk Substitudes;

-From 1996 IBFAN in BG celebrates WBW /1-7 August/.

-IBFAN group in BG participates regularly in the Working groups for the Rights of the children and women in MLSP, MH, Council of Ministers and Parliament from 1994 till 2001 and work for implementation of ILO Convention 183 and 184.

-We produced: \\\"20 Years of IBFAN\\\", \\\"Violations of the International Code in Bulgaria\\\", \\\"Codex Alimentarius Standards for Infant Formula and Follow on formula\\\", \\\"In the name of the International Code- Say the truth for the Violation\\\"- National Report for the Monitoring in Bulgaria 2000/2001.
