South-Asia BF Partners Forum-4
Dear Friends,
The Breastfeeding Promotion Network of India (BPNI), the International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN - Asia) and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR - India) are jointly hosting the
fourth South Asia Breastfeeding Promotion Partners Forum in close partnership with Government of India
and UNICEF, at New Delhi from December 10-12, 2007.
The theme for the forum is “Save Babies: Support Women to Breastfeed”. Proceedings of the Forum 4 will include Plenary sessions, interactive panel sessions and group work to make it an interesting learning experience for all participants.
We envisage a ‘South Asia Declaration on Empowering Women for Optimal Infant and Young Child Feeding”, and a dialogue for a country level and SAARC fund to invest on infant nutrition and survival interventions supporting women and families, as the possible outcomes of the forum. We also see a plan of action for the next five years evolving at the forum. We believe that together, participating countries will have a great opportunity at this forum to develop future strategies to protect, promote and support breastfeeding and optimal infant feeding practices to reduce infant morbidity and mortality as well as child malnutrition.
We invite your participation at the forum 4. We eagerly look forward to receiving the confirmation of your attendance. Please use the form, which you may submit electronically/fax to reach us as soon as possible, latest by November 7th, 2007 to enable proper facilitation.
With warm regards,
Shantha Shina Dr. Arun Gupta MD FIAP
