New webpage in French

We are pleased to inform you that a new web-page is now available in French for GIFA, the Geneva Infant Feeding Association that houses IBFAN’s technical office in Europe.
The Swiss Lottery provided a small grant to cover the technical expenses involved in changing the webpage
and a team composed by Daphné Lachavanne and Didier Wernli carefully crafted a complete redesign of the previous site.
The new web-page responds to a philosophy whereby it should function as an inter-active platform between mothers, health-professionals and GIFA’s members, thus providing greater visibility to GIFA in its more immediate surroundings: the city of Geneva and the Swiss Confederation. The new site also seeks to develop stronger links with local civil society and state authorities by trying to reflect local priorities related to infant health and nutrition.
French is the main language used to underline GIFA’s links with Francophone Switzerland, though translations into other languages will be provided at a later stage.
IBFAN’s international work and main thematic areas appear on the new site, explained in simple language,
with examples close to local culture. In this fashion, the relevance of the International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes is explained in the context of an affluent environment, but without losing the strong connection with other less privileged societies, where the Code becomes an instrument to save children’s
lives. For this reason, the new site will interest French-speaking health care providers in other countries, especially in French-speaking African countries where the site will provide recent scientific studies in French.
We invite web surfers to visit the site, discover its new features and share opinions with us.
