IBFAN – International Baby Food Action Network

OUR FUNDING POLICY

In accordance with its Seven Principles, IBFAN neither seeks nor accepts funds, donations, gifts, or sponsorships from manufacturers or distributors of foods for infants and young children, related products, or their trusts or foundations.

Furthermore, we strongly encourage IBFAN groups and members not to accept funding from for-profit companies, especially those in the sectors of food and beverages, alcohol, tobacco, arms, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, or those that employ child labour or resort to violence against people. If any entity seeks to provide funding, IBFAN groups are expected to conduct a thorough review of the entity’s practices, considering their social implications. It is recommended that they consult IBFAN’s regional coordinating offices for guidance on such matters.

IBFAN does not accept funding, gifts, or sponsorships of any kind related to the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) or the SUN (Scaled Up Nutrition). This stance is crucial to preserve IBFAN’s independence.

We value our independence, and each group or individual member of IBFAN is required to make a formal commitment not to seek or accept funds, donations, or sponsorships from the infant food industry and related products. It is recommended that IBFAN groups include an explicit clause making this commitment in their constitution, bylaws, or statutes.
